Under the aegis of the USAID-funded GeoCafe project, and with technical assistance and support from the U.S. Geological Survey National Center for EROS, the Dominican Republic Ministry of Environment (SEMARENA) released in November 2004 a digital land use/cover map of the country. the map was developed during the period 2002 - 2004 using Landsat 7 scenes from the years 200 and 2001. A supervised classification using ERDAS was conducted on the Landsat data by SEMARENET staff. More than 400 control points were collected all over the country to assist the classification. SEMARENA used a simplified version of the MRLC classification scheme. ![]() Dominican Republic Land Use-Land Cover ![]() Dominican Republic Drainage Basins | ||||||
